When I was ten, I humiliated myself participating in the school spelling bee.

Every spelling bee starts with a practice round—an easy word to build confidence. “Spell Job,” the facilitator announced. “Job, G.O.B., Job.” I sat down, horrified, knowing I'd be eliminated in the first round and teased for weeks.

But instead of hiding, I pursued a career in theater, achieving significant milestones. When I pivoted to become a Strategic Communication Coach in Denver, I thought my skills would speak for themselves. However, a humiliated ten-year-old who couldn't spell "job" resurfaced. Despite having a great business coach and plan, I couldn't present my best self because of self-doubt.

In 2018, I almost gave up. But a friend's invitation to present to a small group turned things around. I gained new clients and a renewed sense of purpose, realizing my offering's value outweighed my "ten-year-old-head-noise" of shame.

Now, I have amazing clients and a deep understanding of the value I bring. We all have an inner child reminding us of past humiliations. Unfortunately, some leaders exploit these insecurities to silence their employees. But businesses aiming to stand out need teams that execute the company’s authentic identity. To ensure owners and employees present their best selves, they need training, support, and accountability.

With 20 years of theatrical experience, I enhance communication strategies, presentations, public speaking, customer service, and script-based sales for businesses. My experience with self-doubt and shame uniquely qualifies me to help individuals overcome their fears and present their best selves.
