Why Christopher Peck and SPEAK INTO ACTION COMMUNICATIONS?

MISSION

SPEAK INTO ACTION COMMUNICATIONS utilizes public and interpersonal communication strategies to help businesses and professionals build stronger client relationships and establish influence within their industry.

I distinctly remember a conversation I had with a stranger when I first started this company.  I was driving for one of the ride-share companies to help supplement my income; he was my rider.  He asked what other work I did, and I told him I was a Public Speech and Interpersonal Communication Coach.  My rider responded, “I feel like public speaking is a skill you’ve either got or you don’t.”

If that’s the case, you might assume I always had this skill.  I’ve lectured, presented at professional conferences, and performed in front of thousands of audience members.  I’ve prepared hundreds of leaders for professional interviews and auditions.  I’ve helped develop public speaking skills for clients at all stages of their career—interviewing for a job, transitioning from one career to another, even successful clients looking for that additional something to be more competitive in their field.

But I didn’t always “have it”.

Public speaking is the number one fear in the United States.

Guess what?  That goes for me too.

Imagine a shy, awkward, six-year-old kid.  It’s mid-way through the first semester and it’s his first day in a brand-new school.  Weeks later his first-grade teacher will ask him why he’s taking spelling tests at the lowest level.  He’s aced every test.  He doesn’t seem to belong in this low-level testing group.  But the kids he sat with, when he first arrived, took that test.  So he did too.  He never told the teacher because, well, he was terrified.  He knew the tests were easy.  He knew he wasn’t being challenged.  But it was scarier to confront the teacher.  It was scarier to speak up.

That kid was me: shy, uncomfortable, intimidated by confrontation (I still hate it by the way) and easily shut down by others.  I was mortified during an elementary school spelling bee, so paralyzed by fear I misspelled the word “job” (Now you’re wondering if I really should have been taking the lowest level spelling tests in the first grade). I was bullied in middle school—sadly most of us were—and lacked the confidence to stand up for myself.  Because it’s scary to speak up.  It’s scary to advocate for yourself.

In high school I discovered theatre, and what a discovery!  I was good at it!  I got a large, supporting role in the first play I auditioned for!  But I was still nervous.  I still lacked confidence.

Twenty years later I still get butterflies when I present in front of others.  But two decades as an actor, director, writer, and educator have taught me that my ideas are worth sharing.

Your ideas are worth sharing too.  Passionately, confidently, authetically.

This is why business leaders hire me.  They want to be more confident, strategic communicators.  They want to be empowered.  They want to be impactful.

Regardless of the stage in your career, the ability to engage and activate audiences—be it one person or ten thousand—is foundational for effective business and sales practices.

Everyone has ideas.  Everyone wants to be emboldened to share their ideas.

That six-year old kid did.

Now he empowers solopreneurs, small businesses, rising business leaders, and established, multi-billion dollar organizations.

Are you ready to share your idea?
